BIOGRAPHY
Brian McBride is the music teacher at Oaks Road Elementary in New Bern, NC. During the school week you can find Mr. McBride expanding the minds of students, sharing the art of music, and helping the children of the future express themselves through the arts. You will also find Mr. McBride traveling and performing solo, chamber recitals and concert performances in some of the most prestigious venues across the country.
As an active performer and educator, McBride gives performances and masteclasses throughout the U.S., with recent solo performances including the Strauss Horn Concerto with the Riverside Orchestra, and Rolf Wilhelm’s Concertino with the 440th U.S. Army Band. As an avid chamber musician, he enjoys sharing his passion for chamber music in many different settings. As a founding member of the Pittsburgh Tuba Project, presenting recitals and masterclasses at the 2015 Midwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (OH), 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Conference (IN), Kent State University, Wright State University, Michigan State University, and performances with the Craven Brass Quintet, performing concerts throughout North Carolina.
As an instructor McBride has held positions at Carnegie Mellon University, Manhattan School of Music and Rutgers University for the Brass Departments and Music Extension Divisions. McBride's educational background consists of a Bachelor of Music degree from East Carolina University (NC), a Master’s of Music from Carnegie Mellon University (PA), an Artist Diploma from The Manhattan School of Music (NY), and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree at Rutgers University (NJ). He has studied privately with Alan Baer, Craig Knox, Jeff Jarvis, Phil Sinder, Tom McCaslin, George Vosburgh, and Mark Gould.
He resides in New Bern, North Carolina with his wife Kelsie, son Lincoln, and two dogs Bo and Molly. They both enjoy traveling with their rv throughout the country and finding new places to call home for the weekend.
